Two MNS Projects Win 2018 National APWA Project Of The Year Awards!

The Elkhorn Road Emergency Storm Damage Repair Project in Monterey County wins a National American Public Works Association (APWA) Project of the Year Award for Disaster/Emergency Construction/Repair projects less than $5 Million. Pfeiffer Canyon Bridge, California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) District 5, wins a National American Public Works Association (APWA) Project of the Year Award for Disaster/Emergency Construction/Repair projects over $5 Million but less than $25 Million.

Elkhorn Road Emergency Storm Damage Repair: Winter storms battered the Central Coast of California in January and February of 2017. In February, cyclone force winds ripped through the Monterey-Salinas area, shredding trees, blocking lanes of Highway 101, and wreaking havoc throughout the County. This new winter storm added a new vocabulary word to area residents: bombogenesis. This rare occurrence of a bombogenesis is a mid-latitude cyclone that drops in surface barometric pressure by 24 or more millibars in a 24-hour period, which means intense downpours along with extremely strong winds battering the area. MNS Expands Southern California Market with New Principal Engineer and Ontario Office

MNS Engineers, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of Sheilah Neff, Principal Engineer and Southern California Transportation Market Leader, to our Transportation Department. Ms. Neff will be based in our new Ontario office.

“I am thrilled to be instrumental in opening our new office in Ontario,” says Sheilah. “Over three decades of experience, training, and lasting relationships will be beneficial in my new role to help strategically plan, manage, and operate the fast growth of the Transportation group in Southern California. I’m proud to be a part of a company that provides solutions to our crumbling infrastructure.”

Sheilah has over 33 years of experience in the civil engineering industry and specializes in transportation projects. Sheilah began her career at Caltrans at the age of 18 working as an Engineer Tech while attending school full-time. [ read more… ]

MNS wins the City of Seaside West Broadway Urban Village Infrastructure Improvements project!

Congratulations to Greg Chelini,  Aaron Hilton, Dean Russu on winning the City of Seaside Urban Village Infrastructure Improvements project.

This project will transform the City’s core business center into a revitalized, pedestrian friendly area. The project reduces traffic lanes between Del Monte and Fremont Boulevard from four to two lanes, making way for wider and more accessible sidewalks. These new sidewalks will calm traffic and provide key beatification features to the corridor with their wide walkways, new pedestrian lighting, and lighted palm trees. Also included in the project scope is the construction of four large storm drainage water retention structures under the roadway to store and infiltrate run off from the street. [ read more… ]

VENTURA, CA—Congratulations to MNS Engineers, Inc. (MNS) for winning the 2016 Project of the Year Award in the Transportation Category with the APWA Ventura County Chapter for the US 101 HOV Widening Project!

This $66M project includes six miles of new high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes for both north and southbound traffic, a new pedestrian undercrossing with direct beach access at La Conchita, four miles of a Class I bicycle path adjacent to the ocean from Rincon to Mussel Shoals, widening of the Bates Road Bridge, new sound walls at Mussel Shoals, highway landscaping at Bates Road and Mussel Shoals, restoration of the Punta Gorda pedestrian undercrossing, and construction of public access parking lot at Punta Gorda.
